It started with an idea for a vineyard.
The land led us somewhere else
About ten years ago, after discovering a small hobby vineyard further up the dale, we began wondering what our own hillside above Pateley Bridge might become.
We had the land assessed for vines, but the idea was put aside. When we returned to it several years later, our thinking had changed. We wanted something we could grow, harvest, and transform here in Nidderdale - and something from which we could create far more than a single product.
Lavender became the answer.
Turning an idea into a field.
What began as a relatively simple vocational idea - something meaningful to build as we gradually stepped away from corporate life - soon became consideral=bly more ambitious.
The field had to change with it.
The land was prepared, ploughed and harrowed. Rows were measured and set out across the hillside, weed mat laid, and in May 2026 we planted 5,000 English and French Lavender plants by hand.

THE PLANTING
5,000 lavender plants, selected to suit our climate and to give us different fragrance, oil and product characteristics. Munstead, Hidcote, Grosso and phenomenal.
THE APPROACH
Grown using organic techniques , with an emphasis on working carefully with the land rather than forcing it.
THE PURPOSE
To grow and distil lavender here in Nidderdale, and to create a thoughtful collection shaped by our field and the quality of the ingredients we choose.
We expected a first harvest
We didn't expect quite this one!
Our first summer brought exceptional growing conditions. Young plants established quickly, flowered strongly and, through selective harvesting, produced several flushes across the season.
We had originally planned for around 1 litre of essential oil.
We distilled 4.8 litres of oil and 25 litres of Hydrosol.
More importantly, the oil itself proved to be something with building upon. Laboratory testing confirmed the quality of our first Nidderdale grown lavender oil and gave us confidence that this landscape could produce something genuinely special.

More than a lavender field.
Our first harvest gave us something remarkable: lavender oil grown, harvested and distilled here in Nidderdale. It also helped us see the scale of what we want to build.
One hillside field can produce something special, but it cannot suppled every product we hope to make. Preparing more land takes time, and we do not want the limits of a single harvest to limit what Nidderdale Lavender can become
Our own lavender remains at the heart of everything we create. Every drop of lavender oil used in our products comes from lavender grown in our Nidderdale field and distilled here on site. This connection, from plant to finished product, is an essential part of who we are.
This lets us grow the collection while staying true to where it began : a field above Pateley Bridge and a belief that beautiful products should have a story you can trust.
And the story will not end here as we will expand and develop further lavender fields as we grow.

Our lavender begins in our own field above Pateley Bridge. Growing it ourselves gives us control over what goes into out products from the very beginning.

We harvest and distil lavender on site to produce our own essential oil and hydrosol. As our collection grows, we also select additional ingredients with care - and make the provenance of product clear.
Tread lightly
We use organic growing techniques and make considered choices about ingredients, materials and packaging. We aren't certified organic, and don't pretend to be. Our aim is simply to make better choices wherever we reasonably can.
Stay small enough to Care
Growth matters, but not at the expense of what makes this worthwhile. We want to create beautifully made products with a genuine connection to where they cam from.
